Location
Both culverts are east of Medford and carry unnamed tributaries of the Little Black River under WIS 64. The first is 1,560 feet east of Crane Drive in the town of Medford, and the second is 2,650 feet east of Bizer Drive in the town of Browning, all in Taylor County.
Overview
The town of Medford structure was placed in 1938, and the town of Browning structure was placed in 1922. Both are showing signs of deteriorating and reaching the ends of their service lives. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
- Replace both structures with new concrete box culverts.
- Reconstruct the roadway immediately surrounding each structure.
- Remove guardrail from areas where deemed unnecessary after structure replacements.
- Place new pavement markings.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2025.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, WIS 64 will be closed to through traffic.
