WIS 64 (Culverts), town of Medford and town of Browning - Taylor County

​Locatio​​n​

Both culverts are east of Medford and carry unnamed tributaries of the Little Black River under WIS 64. The first is 1,560 feet east of Crane Drive in the town of Medford, and the second is 2,650 feet east of Bizer Drive in the town of Browning, all in Taylor County.​​

​​​​Ov​erview

The town of Browning structure was placed in 1922, and the town of Medford structure was placed in 1938. Both are showing signs of deteriorating and reaching the ends of their service lives. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:

  • Replace both culverts.

  • Reconstruct the highway.

  • Remove guardrail from areas where deemed unnecessary after structure replacements.

Schedu​​​le

Construction currently is scheduled for 2025.

Traffic Im​​​pacts

WIS 64 would be closed to through traffic and detoured during construction.

  • Traffic would be detoured via WIS 97, WIS 29, WIS 13 and WIS 64.

  • Access will be maintained to property owners on either side of the bridge.
